Dear BC Accommodation industry,
Last week, we witnessed the return of the BCHA Summit after a four-year hiatus, and we could not be prouder of the strength and unity of our industry that was demonstrated by your participation. We are truly grateful for all of you who joined us and made the event a success. Seeing so many of you reconnecting in person, meeting with suppliers and sponsors, and feeling a sense of community was a joyous experience for us all. It was heartening to witness our connections and hotel community thrive throughout the event.

Dear BCHA Members,
With the first week of 2023 already under our belt, I am encouraged by the optimism felt across our industry for the New Year. Our team and Board of Directors are excited over the initiatives and work we have planned for the year ahead and I am confident that through these efforts, 2023 will be a successful year for us all. Dear Accommodation Community,
The past week has been a busy one for your BC Hotel Association team. Application intake opened for the Tourism Accommodation and Commercial Recreation Relief Fund, which will provide up to $15 million in grants to alleviate fixed-cost pressures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants will support large accommodation providers with over 150 employees through fixed cost relief, financially assist Indigenous accommodators with BC Hydro relief, and aid back country lodges and tourism businesses that have been burdened with lease and land tenure payments throughout the pandemic. I would be remiss not thank and acknowledge the entire Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture & Sport -- under the incredible leadership of Minister Melanie Mark -- for their support, hard-work, and obvious commitment to our sector. |
