With the approaching Federal Election, the BCHA will leverage the opportunity for hotels to speak with one voice to effectively ensure our industry’s concerns are heard. As part of our election strategy, the BCHA will engage with the three political party representatives to present two priority issues for our industry;

1. Ensure new programs are proposed to ease the labour supply shortage in the hotel sector;
2. Advocate for the government to include digital platforms to comply with Canadian tax laws and pay corporate income tax on Canadian earnings.
3. Require short-term rental platform companies operating in Canada to charge GST/HST to hosts and guests on all fees.
