KELSEY MILLMAN

COMMUNICATIONS mANAGER

The eyes and ears of the BCHA brand, Kelsey manages all of BCHA's communications touchpoints, ensuring members have the tools to stay up to date on industry happenings. (She also enjoys forcing her team to participate in the latest TikTok trend.)

Communications manager | Media maven

Driven by a deep-rooted passion to support BC’s tourism and hospitality sector, Kelsey is a trusted resource and tireless advocate for the industry as Communications Manager for the BC Hotel Association (BCHA). With over a decade of industry experience, Kelsey utilizes her portfolio of communications skills to facilitate positive change for the sector, specializing in media and public relations, communications strategies, crisis management, government relations, social media, branding, and event management.

Prior to joining the BCHA, Kelsey oversaw communications activities for her clients at leading integrated communications agencies, Beattie Tartan and Avenue PR, where she represented internationally recognized hotel and tourism brands such as JW Marriott Parq Vancouver; the DOUGLAS, an Autograph Collection Hotel; Pan Pacific Whistler; The Josie, Autograph Collection Hotel; Pacific Sands Beach Resort; Watermark Beach Resort; The Adventure Group; and Inn at Laurel Point, among others.

Kelsey completed the public relations program at BCIT, with honours, and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cultural Studies at the UBC. Having studied intersectionality and interlocking systems of oppression, Kelsey is devoted to building a safe and equitable hospitality sector that is welcoming to all.

In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys exploring Vancouver via her cruiser bike, travelling to new destinations across the globe, and is a RuPaul Drag Race superfan.

the fun stuff

  • What animal do you think most closely matches your personality?
    • A cat: more specifically, Garfield (I love Lasagna and I hate Mondays)
  • What’s your favorite famous or inspirational quote?
    • “Son, if you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now quiet! They’re about to announce the lottery numbers.” - Homer Simpson
  • If you could adopt any pet, what would it be?
    • A potbelly pig that I would name Chris P. Bacon
  • If you could meet anyone dead or alive, who would it be?
    • I would spend a day with Walt Disney at Disneyland. I am so curious to know what he thinks of the current era.
  • Are you more productive in the mornings, afternoons or evenings? Why?
    • As a society, we give far too much power to morning people. #NormalizeNightOwls
  • What is one thing you always do when exploring a new destination?
    • I am a huge advocate for haunted walking tours! It's the best way to experience a new city and get a dose of culture while hearing interesting stories directly from a local.
  • Have you ever had to “unlearn” something in your professional life? What was it?
    • To not hit the spacebar twice when starting a new sentence.
  • If you could live in any city where would you live?
    • New Orleans, Siem Reap, Barcelona, to name a few!
  • What did you want to be when you grew up when you were in elementary school?
    • A Spice Girl (it is still one of my top career aspirations).
